Five SaddleBrooke Swimmers Shine at Polar Bear Meet
Left to right: Walt Howland, Sally Bolar, Harold Peter, Jill Fritz, and Jack Fritz
The 19th annual Polar Bear meet took place on Sunday, January 25, at the Hillenbrand Aquatics Center on the University of Arizona campus. The meet, sanctioned by the US Masters Swimming Association, had five SaddleBrooke swimmers, Jack and Jill Fritz, Harold Peter, Sally Bolar, and Walt Howland.
These participants had an outstanding meet against a very competitive field. Jill Fritz entered and medaled in five events. Walt Howland took second in the 50-yard freestyle and breaststroke events. Jack Fritz brought home four medals. Harold Peter took home three golds, and Sally Bolar garnered two first place medals. Walt and Jack, along with Jill and Sally, swim in the same age groups, so they often had to share top honors. Walt continues to breathe down Jack’s neck finishing only 1.7 seconds behind him in the 50-yard freestyle.
Congrats to all swimmers for a job well done!
